Materials

To create a durable and stylish leather collar, you'll need a selection of materials. Below, you'll find a complete list of all the materials needed for this project.

• 30 mm greased leather strap
• First colour of type III paracord
• Second colour of type III paracord
• Third colour of type III paracord
• Nappa leather strip 80x10 cm Italian 'Bello Colleto' or Italian 'Super'
• 1 mm movi waxed polyester cord
• 30x5 mm heavy duty roller belt buckle
• 30x5 mm D-ring
• Passant ring 32 mm

Tools

Leatherworking involves various techniques and requires several tools for these techniques. Below is a complete list of the tools used in this process. Each one is important for crafting the leather, adding the lining, or securing the paracord lacing.

Measuring, marking and cutting

• 30x45 cm Cutting mat
• Double sided measuring tape (150 cm)
• Stainless steel ruler (30 cm)
• Leather marking pen
• Precision craft knife

Smooth leather edges

• 2.5 mm edge beveler
• Fiebing's Gum Tragacanth or Angelus Burnishing Gum
• Multi-Size Wooden Slicker
• Brushes for Crafting Projects

Preparing the leather

• Poly cutting board
• Ivan leather skiver tool
• 32 mm english point strap end punch
• Oblong 30 mm leather punch
• Nylon mallet large
• Leather collar template

Punching the holes
There are two ways to go about this. You can either use a spindle press or punch the holes with a rotary punch. Do you already have some other tools, like leather punches, at home? You can use those as well, just make sure that the holes will be about 3.5 mm big.

Using a spindle press:

• Spindle hand press
• Spindle station
• Spindle hand press anvil 12 mm
• Hole punch for spindle hand press 3.5 mm

Or punching by hand:

• Round leather rotary punch

Paracord lacing

• Type III pro paracord needle (blunt)
• Petromax mini blowtorch
• Fabric scissors
• Bronze template for leather lacing 35 mm or paper template

Gluing

• Renia aquilim
• Reusable glue spreader
• Nylon roller

Sewing

• Quick release wing divider 100 mm
• 3 mm leather diamond chisel (6 prongs)
