Materials

To create a durable and stylish leather collar, you'll need a selection of materials. Below, you'll find a complete list of all the materials needed for this project.

• 2 x 180 cm of the fifth colour of type I paracord for the set-up
• First colour of type I paracord (60 cm)
• Second colour of type I paracord (60 cm)
• Third colour of type I paracord (60 cm)
• Forth colour of type I paracord (60 cm)

Note! The number of pieces of 60cm Type I rope will vary based on how many flowers you want to make. (We used 4 of the first colour, 4 of the second colour, 3 of the third colour and 3 of the fourth colour for a 40cm collar.)

• 35 mm greased leather strap
• Nappa leather strip 50x10 cm Italian 'Bello Colleto' or Italian 'Super'
• 1 mm movi waxed polyester cord
• 35x5 mm heavy duty roller belt buckle
• 38x5 mm D-ring
• Passant ring 32 mm
• Silver Round Beads (14 pieces)

Tools

Leatherworking involves various techniques and requires several tools for these techniques. Below is a complete list of the tools used in this process. Each one is important for crafting the leather, adding the lining, or securing the paracord lacing.

Measuring, marking and cutting

• 30x45 cm Cutting mat
• Double sided measuring tape (150 cm)
• Stainless steel ruler (30 cm)
• Leather marking pen
• Precision craft knife

Smooth leather edges

• 2.5 mm edge beveler
• Fiebing's Gum Tragacanth or Angelus Burnishing Gum
• Multi-Size Wooden Slicker
• Brushes for Crafting Projects

Preparing the leather

• Poly cutting board
• Ivan leather skiver tool
• 32 mm english point strap end punch
• Oblong 30 mm leather punch
• Leather Cutter
• Nylon mallet large
• Leather collar template

Punching the holes
There are two ways to go about this. You can either use a spindle press or punch the holes with a rotary punch. Do you already have some other tools, like leather punches, at home? You can use those as well, just make sure that the holes will be about 3.5 mm big.

Using a spindle press:

• Spindle hand press
• Spindle station
• Spindle hand press anvil 12 mm
• Hole punch for spindle hand press 3.5 mm

Or punching by hand:

• Round leather rotary punch
